The Oboe program at the Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität der Stadt Wien (MUK) offers both Bachelor's and Master's degrees, as well as preparatory courses and a certificate of performance. The program focuses on developing artistic and technical skills in oboe performance.



Entrance Exams:



  • The application deadline for the winter semester 2025/26 is January 29, 2025.


  • The entrance examination process involves an online application with video submissions.


  • Selected applicants may be invited for an on-site audition.


  • For IGP (Instrumental and Vocal Pedagogy) applicants, there is an additional educational practical part of the exam including a colloquium.




Bachelor's Programme:



  • The entrance examination is based on video submissions, including an introduction video (max. 2 minutes) and an artistic presentation.


  • The artistic presentation should include 2-3 works of the applicant's choice.


  • Selected applicants may be invited to an on-site audit, which includes excerpts from the examination program, an interview about study motivation, and optional tasks like sight-reading and improvisation.




Master's Programme:



  • Admission requires a completed Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification, evidence of German proficiency (for non-native speakers), and successfully passing the entrance examination.


  • The entrance examination is based on video submissions, including an introduction video (max. 2 minutes) and an artistic presentation.


  • The artistic presentation should include at least 3 pieces from different stylistic periods (min. 30 minutes playing time), or alternatively, 5 orchestral parts or 1 chamber music piece.


  • Selected applicants may be invited to an on-site audit, which includes excerpts from the examination program, an interview about study motivation, and optional tasks like sight-reading and improvisation.




Bachelor's Programme IGP (Instrumental and Vocal Pedagogy):



  • The entrance examination includes an online application, an artistic part, an educational-practical part, and a colloquium.


  • The artistic part is identical to the requirements of the respective artistic bachelor's programme.


  • The educational-practical part includes singing and chordal accompaniment, accompaniment at the piano, and sight-singing.


  • The colloquium tests cognitive and linguistic skills and examines the applicant's educational potential.




Preparatory Course:



  • The entrance examination is based on video submissions, including an introduction video (max. 2 minutes) and an artistic presentation.


  • The artistic presentation should include 2-3 works of the applicant's choice.


  • Selected applicants may be invited to an on-site audit, which includes excerpts from the examination program and an interview about study motivation.




Certificate of Performance:



  • The admission exam serves to determine applicants' motivation, artistic proficiency, and suitability.


  • The admission process is split into three parts: submission of documents, artistic presentation, and a colloquium (only for on-site auditions).


  • The artistic presentation should demonstrate instrumental proficiency at Master's level entry.
