The MA Dance Teacher Programme (work-study) is designed for professional dancers and dance teachers who wish to enhance their skills. It caters to those aiming to become dance teachers, rehearsal directors, or work in professional training institutions, community dance, or dance companies and theatres. A specialisation in "Dance Teacher for Community Dance" is available for candidates without a professional dance career, provided they demonstrate equivalent aptitude.

Students can choose a focus in either Ballet or Contemporary/Modern Dance, and a specialisation as a Rehearsal Director, Dance Teacher for professional training, or Dance Teacher for Community Dance/Amateur fields. The programme is interdisciplinary, covering subjects such as dance pedagogy, methodology and didactics, dance history, dance medicine, psychology, teaching practice, rehearsal assistance, improvisation, laban, and composition.

A unique aspect of the programme is the opportunity to work with approximately 150 dancers aged 10 to 20 at the Palucca University of Dance Dresden, who are proficient in ballet, contemporary dance, and improvisation. The programme emphasizes cross-pollination between Teacher Training and the Choreography Programme, and benefits from a global artistic network through numerous partnerships.

The programme can be completed in 3 years, with the flexibility to finish in a shorter period. It is taught in English, although the module Dance Medicine is offered in both German and English, and oral and written exams can be taken in German upon request. The programme awards 120 ECTS points.
