The Maritime Operations Master's program is a joint study program offered by the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences and the University of Applied Sciences Emden/Leer. Both institutions are recognized for their maritime education and have strong ties to the maritime industry.

The program is designed for maritime professionals and engineers who hold a bachelor's degree or an equivalent qualification from a recognized academic institution. Specific admission requirements include a relevant bachelor's degree with 80 ECTS credits in technical and/or nautical courses, or equivalent professional education. Accepted bachelor's degrees include Mechanical Engineering, Nautical Science, and Maritime Studies, each requiring 180 ECTS credits in relevant courses.

The study program covers various aspects of maritime operations, including technical, organizational, and managerial elements. It emphasizes the international nature of the maritime industry, integrating technological, operational, and managerial perspectives. The curriculum aims to equip students with comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge to contribute to the improvement and development of maritime operations, focusing on safety and efficiency. Graduates are prepared for roles in the maritime industry, both on and offshore.

The first semester takes place in Haugesund, Norway, and the second semester in Leer, Germany. Students can choose one of two profiles offered by the partner institutions for the third semester, which also determines their study location. The master's thesis is completed in the fourth semester within the framework of the chosen profile.

The workload is measured in credits, with one full-time year equivalent to 60 credits. Most courses are 10 or 6 credits. A full-time study requires a minimum of 40 hours of productive work per week.
