The Data Science and Business Analytics program focuses on leveraging the increasing digitalization that provides companies with vast amounts of data (Big Data). It explores innovative possibilities for data analysis, compression, and prediction of future company events through data mining, analytical databases, and graphic visualization technologies. The program aims to generate knowledge from large amounts of structured and unstructured data, enabling new insights and data-supported decision-making.
"Data Science" integrates various disciplines, including databases, statistics, machine learning, data mining, mathematics, and visualization, to analyze data sets. Besides descriptive analyses based on historical values, the program emphasizes predictive analyses. It involves discovering interesting patterns in historical data to predict future values, such as customer churn, needs, and risks.
The Competence Center within the program conducts teaching, continuing education, and applied research in Business Intelligence & Corporate Performance Management, Customer & Marketing Analytics, and Supply Chain Analytics. It supports companies in developing concepts and analysis models, implementing data science strategies for optimal utilization of competitive advantages, and qualifying employees.
