Kurzbeschreibung & Facts

The Trossingen University of Music and the Federal Academy for Musical Youth Education Trossingen have developed a cooperative study model: the Master Extended Music Education (MEME). This part-time program combines Master studies with a part-time training course, creating a unique approach in music education by linking university research and teaching with practical professional experience.

The MEME program is aimed at professionals in music education, music mediation, and freelance musicians. It focuses on expanding knowledge and skills in digital technologies and performance, reflecting on artistic and pedagogical identity within digital media, and exploring professional practice in the context of digitization. Building on artistic-pedagogical studies, it provides a flexible framework for individual study design with practical relevance.

The program offers artistic, pedagogical, and technological development of knowledge and skills for professions in music mediation, music pedagogy, and freelance musicians, with an emphasis on digital technologies and digitalization. It serves as a studio for pedagogical and artistic development projects, allowing students to choose two focal points from institutional music education, school cooperation, adult education, or social institutions. This enables a focused examination of artistic-practical and pedagogical-technological issues.

Artistic practice, musicological, pedagogical, and technological content, reflections, and artistic-pedagogical-technological projects are central to the Master's degree. The teaching staff of the University of Music and the Federal Academy jointly organize the course, content, and examinations. The modules artistic focus as well as the scientific module are offered for the Master's degree students. All further modules will be taking place with both parties together: the participants of the training course and the Master's students.

The program requires independence, conceptual, pedagogical, artistic, and technological competence, flexibility, initiative, and communication skills. Critical analysis, understanding of quality, and design of concepts are essential, along with leadership, teamwork, and organizational skills.
