The Bachelor's Programme in Biomedicine and Biotechnology at the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna, established in 2002, aims to provide students with a strong foundation in natural sciences, medical fields, and molecular methods. The program emphasizes interdisciplinary work and problem-focused learning.

The program offers personal attention due to a limited number of places, ensuring close interaction between students and faculty. It also provides an international setting, with approximately 90% of students gaining experience abroad at renowned institutions through internships or bachelor's theses, supported by scholarships and faculty networks.

Students are involved in research projects from the first semester and are prepared for leadership positions or entrepreneurship through specialized courses.

The program structure includes:

• Year 1: Fundamentals of Natural Science (Chemistry, Physics), Genetics and Cell Biology, and 2 project collaborations.
• Year 2: Fundamentals of Medicine (Anatomy, Physiology, Histology), Molecular Biology, Laboratory Animal Science, Bioinformatics, Biomedical Economics (Entrepreneurship), and 4 weeks of practical training.
• Year 3: Infection Biology (Virology, Bacteriology, Parasitology), Pharmacology and Toxicology, Pathology and Immunology, 4 weeks of practical training, and a Bachelor's thesis (4–6 months).

Graduates can pursue careers in research in the pharmaceutical and biomedical industry, product development in biomedicine, specialized testing facilities, public and private health care facilities, and (veterinary) medical and basic research.
