Kurzbeschreibung & Facts

The Master in Environmental and Resource Economics (M.Sc.) program at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel, specifically the FPO 2021 curriculum, is designed for students who began their studies in or after the winter term 2021/22, or those who switched from FPO 2014 by September 30, 2021. The program provides a wide range of specialized courses, offering insights into various areas of economic research through collaboration with the Kiel Institute for the World Economy.

The program includes a minor subject, with Geography and Ecology offered in English. For those interested in German as a foreign language, no prior knowledge is required. Registration periods for German courses are from February 15 to March 15 for the summer semester and August 15 to September 23 for the winter semester. Timetables can be found in Univis.

The Geography and Ecology modules are located under "Agrar- und Ernährungswissenschaftliche Fakultät >> M. Sc. Environmental Management, Applied Ecology" AND "Mathematisch-Naturwissenschaftliche Fakultät >> Geographie" in UnivIS. The Kiel School of Sustainability provides an overview of their courses and additional information, including introduction videos in their OLAT course.

For political science modules, these are offered by the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and can be found in UnivIS under "Bachelor >> Politikwissenschaft" AND "Master >> Politikwissenschaft". Registration is via OLAT.

The program also provides resources for first-semester students, including welcome events, tips for newcomers, and an overview of important online tools. Information on course schedules, types of courses, and how to plan a timetable are also available. A student's handbook offers a general overview of the course structure and guidance on organizing studies.

International students have access to a checklist, information on visa and health insurance, an orientation program, and instructions on changing OLAT language settings.

Contact persons, including study program advisors, are available for questions about the structure and content of the program, application, study planning, recognition of courses, and examination procedures.

The program is governed by specific examination regulations and procedures, which are legally binding documents. Registration for exams and seminars is completed in QIS during specified periods. Guidelines and templates are provided for seminars and the Master Thesis.

The Environmental and Resource Economics Master of Science degree programme is accredited.
