Russische Philologie B.A.

Universität Regensburg
Kurzbeschreibung & Facts

The B.A. program in Russian Philology at the Universität Regensburg introduces students to the Russian language, literature, and culture. The program is designed as a combined Bachelor of Arts, allowing students to combine the bachelor's subject with either a second major or two minor subjects from the philosophical faculties, business administration, economics, or business information systems.

The linguistic component of the program focuses on semantics, morphology, and sociolinguistics, equipping students with the skills to conduct empirical research. In the field of literature, students gain insights into the currents and trends in Russian literature from its beginnings to the present day. They develop the ability to analyze texts using literary studies methodologies, recognizing the specific literariness of a text and drawing conclusions about changes in literary style formations due to aesthetic and social factors.

The Russian Cultural Studies component enables students to reflect on hetero- and autostereotypes and to consider literature and language in the context of the overall culture. It introduces students to semiotics and other approaches, enabling them to critically reflect on concepts such as identity and cultural values. The language practice program offers the opportunity to learn the Russian language up to level B2 (CEFR).

Graduates of the program may find employment as editors at publishing houses, advertising agencies, in the diplomatic service, or in the software industry. It is recommended to complete internships during the lecture-free period to prepare for their professional aims.

The standard period of study is 6 semesters. The program comprises 180 ECTS credits overall, with 90 ECTS credits in the bachelor's subject, 60 ECTS credits in the second subject, and 30 ECTS credits in each minor subject. The language of instruction is German and Russian. The program can only be started in the winter semester. There are no admission restrictions based on grades, and no specific language certificates are required.
