The Master's program "Urban Design - Revitalization of Historic City Districts" focuses on the development of historic cities, particularly in Europe and the MENA region, addressing the challenges of sustainable urban development. The program emphasizes the importance of a vibrant inner city with a historic core for shaping the identity of the city and catalyzing broader urban developments. It highlights that the renewal and revitalization of inner-city areas benefit not only local inhabitants but also surrounding areas and the entire town, making a vital inner city a cornerstone of sustainable urban development.
This double degree program is offered in cooperation between Brandenburg University of Technology in Cottbus, Cairo University, and Alexandria University in Egypt. As part of the program, students spend one semester at each of the three partner universities.
The program is currently not accepting enrollments, and prospective students are recommended to apply for the follow-up study program "Urban Design and Sustainable Revitalisation," which will begin enrolling in the winter semester of 2024/25.
