Man lernt also aus vielen unterschiedlichen Bereichen etwas.
Food for thoughts
African Verbal and Visual art is a really good program for those interested on the African culture and art. I believe the professors are well trained and most of the time really avaiable for every student concern.
As courses we have different ones ,like African languages , Literature and Media and Art ; from my personal experience the lectures that inspire me the most are the language course and the art courses.
I love in particular these two courses, because they offer a more lively and particular atmosphere, where learning feels easier.
The classmate are not so many per class, but i would say that it is even better. When there are less people at a lecture,it means higher possibility of comprehension of it and more reliability to the professor, it is easier to get a confront with them and make more questions.
Finally , I personally chose the program for my roots and for develop my personal knowledge over the African culture . I feel very lucky to be able to have this wide space just for learning African art and costums and i hope also the new students will feel like this !
I think the most important thing is having a place like a campus. I feel the campus gives a more access to meet with new people and cultures and also enhance the network not only among students ,but also around inevitably to great academic figures .
Another important space in the campus is the Central library , an unique space where you can actually do everything , study , do sports , have group works and also sleep ,quite necessary after a long academic day . Last but not least is for sure Iwalewahause and mainly its African art archives. It is super important heritage sight ,that is giving us students lots of insights and inspiration about how to view art and finding our own personalities.
I said already many things, but i wanted to add another information about the methods of teaching generally . I believe sometimes lectures lack of theoretical material , I feel some lectures are based more on a practical perspective, which i do not dislike totally, I just would like a balance between theory and practice , so that the outcome of some lectures would be smoother, otherwise lectures become too abstract.
Understanding climate change from different fields
The program is quite varied, featuring classes in ecology, climatology, and social sciences with a focus on climate change. There are various courses available depending on personal interests, and there is always a professor or program coordinator ready to help.
Variety of subjects and highly qualified teachers
I would like to have more practical classes
I learned how to tackle the planet's ecological crises by blending hardcore natural science with the political and economic strategies needed to actually fix them.
the global change ecology program right here at ubt is honestly a top-tier choice if you want to tackle environmental issues from both a science and policy angle. instead of keeping you stuck in a lab, it splits the focus—giving you about 70% hardcore natural sciences and 30% social sciences—so you actually understand the politics and economics needed to make real changes. it is part of bavaria's elite network, which means you get small classes, tons of funding, and awesome hands-on trips like their science schools. the workload is definitely heavy, and they expect you to master some intense skills like gis and ai alongside all the policy stuff, plus you will need to hit a1 german by your second semester even though classes are in english. but if you can handle the competitive admission and rigorous pace, it sets you up perfectly for high-impact jobs in consulting, at big ngos like the un, or for a solid phd track.
Honestly, the biggest plus is the insane level of access and funding you get because it’s part of the Elite Network of Bavaria. Students constantly rave about getting to attend actual UN climate conferences or international science schools on the university's dime, complete with a travel allowance, and having tiny classes—sometimes just eight people—which means you get incredible 1-on-1 time with top researchers. Plus, the program coordinators are absolute lifesavers who basically hold your hand through the chaos of German bureaucracy.
the biggest criticism is the university's messy digital infrastructure. Students complain about having to juggle three different online systems that don't communicate with each other, making things like checking grades or figuring out your schedule super frustrating at first. Also, because they throw so many amazing internships, travel opportunities, and extra modules at you, the workload is intense; almost everyone says it is incredibly hard to actually finish the degree in the standard four semesters if you want to take advantage of everything the program has to offer.
Dream of an organic chemist
This is the only study program tailored for students in whole germany, wanting to specialize in organic chemistry or drug synthesis with a sustainable aspect in english language
There is no stress of assignments, presentations or quizzes, other than just the final exam
It would be better if the facilities in the labs are increased
Bayreuth University has top class laboratories with highly qualified lecturers.
Advanced Laboratory
Students are coming a lot of countries so need to give basic understanding.
