UZH itself has been a big part of the experience too. Being in Zurich puts you right next to the industry, which honestly changes the whole vibe of studying finance — you're not just learning theory in a vacuum, there's this constant sense of "this is literally happening two tram stops away." The Finance Club UZH scene has been great for that too, gets you talking to people already in the industry and other students who are just as into this stuff as you are.
The university's also got a good mix of rigorous, research-driven professors who clearly know their stuff at a top level, alongside a genuinely international student body — you end up comparing notes with people from completely different academic backgrounds, which stretches how you think about problems. And Zurich as a city just makes the whole thing better honestly — it's not a typical rowdy student town, it's got this grown-up, professional energy that kind of primes you for the transition into the industry you're aiming for.
Overall it's been a really solid environment to push myself in — good balance of academic depth and real proximity to the industry I want to break into.
The proximity to Zurich's finance industry — between Finance Club UZH events and just being in the city, theory never feels disconnected from the real world.
The course load can pile up quite intensely at times, with several demanding subjects running in parallel — a bit more breathing room to go deeper on each would be welcome.
