Kurzbeschreibung & Facts

The International Marketing Management Master's program at HWR Berlin is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed for a successful career in the global marketing environment. The program addresses how companies achieve global success, identify emerging trends, and position products or services competitively in global markets.

The program is aimed at graduates with a Bachelor's or Diploma degree from Germany and abroad. It offers practice-oriented learning through case studies, an international network with students from around the world, and English-taught courses to prepare students for international workplaces. A dual degree option with ESC Rennes is also available.

Graduates are prepared for leadership positions in international companies or organizations, as well as higher civil service positions. The program focuses on developing global marketing strategies, managing multicultural teams, and finding innovative solutions to complex problems.

The degree structure includes:

  • 1st Semester: Foundation modules in international marketing, empirical methods, and consumer behavior.

  • 2nd Semester: Specialization modules in brand management, data-driven, and digital marketing.

  • 3rd Semester: Master's thesis or internship/semester abroad for practical experience. The study program can be extended to four semesters if an internship is chosen to compensate for missing ECTS points from the bachelor's degree.

The program teaches analysis, problem-solving, and implementation skills, with interactive modules taught in English to enhance language skills for an international career.

Admission requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Business Studies with at least 210 ECTS credits (or 180 credits with a placement to gain the remaining 30 credits), evidence of at least 15 ECTS credits in Marketing modules, and English language skills at a B2 level (e.g., TOEFL iBT 83, IELTS 6.0). A letter of motivation and curriculum vitae in English are also required. A GMAT score above 600 points is helpful but not required and waives the English proof requirement.

Application deadlines vary for applicants with degrees from German universities (15.04-15.06) and universities abroad (15.03-15.05).
