The Master's degree program in Business Intelligence and Process Management at the HWR Berlin is designed to provide students with applied knowledge at the intersection of organization and technology. The program focuses on leveraging Information Technology to enhance organizational value creation. It emphasizes the significance of data for decision-making processes through Business Intelligence and addresses the organizational aspects of this discipline through Business Process Management.


The program aims to provide a deep understanding of state-of-the-art technologies, such as AI, and how they can be applied to solve pressing business challenges. Graduates will develop goal-oriented analytic skills, enabling them to conceive and implement strategic and operative measures. The curriculum is delivered through interactive seminars in English, utilizing case studies to provide practical, first-hand experience. Small group work fosters intensive dialogue among students and teachers, promoting international communication and collaboration skills.


Graduates are well-prepared for careers in line management, project management, or consulting. The combination of economics-based expertise and IT skills equips them to address complex commercial problems and assume responsible managerial positions. The program consists of a foundation and specialization stage in the first semester, followed by a specialization and project stage in the second semester. A key component of the program is the emphasis on case studies and project work, allowing students to apply theoretical knowledge to practice-based questions.


The first semester builds upon Bachelor's-level skills, creating a common foundation and deepening understanding of Business Intelligence and Business Process Management. The second semester expands this knowledge, with students gaining practical skills in analysis, design, and implementation through work in the Analytics & Process Laboratories. The third semester is dedicated to the Master's thesis and final oral examination, supported by a research methodology seminar to develop academic working practices.


The program requires a Bachelor's degree in Business, Informatics, Business Information Systems, Computer Science, or Public Administration Informatics, with specific coursework in Business Administration, Quantitative Methods/Databases, and Computer Science/Business Information Systems. English language proficiency is required, demonstrated through standardized tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, or equivalent. A letter of motivation and curriculum vitae in English are also required for admission.
