The master's programme "International Social Work with Refugees and Migrants (MRM)" is an application-oriented and internationally oriented English-language degree programme. It aims to qualify students to contribute to the field of social work by supporting and empowering refugees and immigrants, fostering their integration, and reducing barriers in standard services and administration. It also focuses on providing human rights-oriented assistance in European Union asylum centers and UNHCR refugee camps.
The program equips students with professional, social, and profession-related competencies for social work with migrants and refugees in international and national contexts. Students will develop solution-oriented approaches for refugees and migrants based on empirical findings and theoretical references. They will also be able to operate in the area of policies of local as well as international actors.
The program fosters human and professional exchange with countries of origin and transit regions through international orientation and cooperation with universities abroad. There are collaborations with the German-Jordanian University (GJU) in Amman/Jordan and the University in Palermo/Italy for studying abroad in the second semester. Project collaborations with other universities and countries are continuously being developed.
