MusicalFolkwang Universität der Künste

The Musical degree program was founded in 1989 and admits six students annually. It offers a broad, interdisciplinary education in acting, dance, and singing. Through continuous, intensive training, students learn to expand their limits and acquire the artistic and technical skills necessary for a successful stage career in a competitive field. The faculty comprises internationally renowned experts and active artists, ensuring a comprehensive and high-quality education.

Various public projects and an exploration of the full spectrum of literature—from classic musicals to chansons, revues, cabaret, operettas, and contemporary music literature—help students discover and hone their talents. In addition to numerous semester concerts, a major final production is staged each year, often in co-production with external organizers, to provide students with early experience in the professional theater world. This often serves as a springboard to major musical productions or theater houses.
